My sister-in-law has a boil under her arm that is very painful. Is there anything I could tell her to do to help it go away faster or hurt less? Also what causes boils and is there anything that can be done to prevent someone from getting one?

Its probably due to body heat. I would advise taking some 'cooling' stuff like cucumbers and yoghurt.

Yeah some things that cool the body. Boba seeds are very famous in India for this. Lime juice with Boba seeds (I think its called shabza in Hindi) might help.
